My name is Christine and I run a travel blog named Tour de Lust. It is a place for me to share my travel experiences as a part-time traveler. I love to travel and make it a top priority even though I have a full-time job. I believe that you do not need to quit your job to travel the world. I grew up in Los Angeles and lived in New York for the last three years. I have recently relocated to San Francisco and exploring as much as possible.

When did you first get bitten by the travel bug?

It started after college for me. I took a trip to Paris, London and Amsterdam and fell in love with the cities! I started to travel a lot more once I had a job since I had more money to travel =) Instead of buying things I spent my money on traveling.

What’s your travel style? Why do you prefer this style of travel?

I enjoy traveling with others. I prefer experiencing new places with my significant other or friends. It allows me to build a stronger relationship with them and it’s always more fun to share these new experiences together. I also love food and a lot of my travel revolves around finding the best restaurants.

How do you fund your travels?

I work full-time and try to save as much as possible by not buying things I do not need.

What first inspired you to start Tour de Lust?

The travel blogging industry really inspired me. I started to follow a lot of travel bloggers on Instagram and joined Facebook groups and everyone really helped inspire me to start my own.

What’s been your most popular blog post? Why do you think this blog post resonated with your audience?

Surprisingly it was my post on ice cream! 20 Best Ice Creams In New York. Everyone must really love seeing delicious ice cream!

What’s been your favorite destination city and why?

Japan. I loved everything about it! From enjoying the big busy city of Tokyo, relaxing in the mountain side in Hakone to experiencing traditional Japanese culture in Kyoto. Everyone is so friendly here and they have the BEST food!

Is there a picture you’ve taken during your travels that you’d consider to be your favorite?

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Have you eaten anything during your travels that absolutely blew your mind? What was it and where?

Yes!! Tickets Bar in Barcelona has been and is still my number one favorite restaurant! Best gastronomic dinner of my life.

Tell us about one of your greatest experiences during your travels.

Greatest experience would be visiting Iceland.. being able to experience glaciers and sitting in the blue lagoon was like no other. It was probably one of my favorites too.

Tell us about one of your worst experiences during your travels.

I can’t say that I’ve ever had a worst experience during my travel.. I can’t recall having something be so bad that it ruined my travels.

What’s been the most surprising thing to you about traveling?

The most surprising thing about traveling is that I’ve learned a lot about myself, others and the world. I never imagined how different life is outside of the US and it really makes me appreciate the beauty of the world we live in.

What’s one thing you seek out in every city you visit no matter what?

I always look for best views! If it requires me climbing up mountains to get there I will do it!

Do you have a favorite travel hack or best piece of travel advice?

When traveling my biggest tip is to always wake up early! Don’t waste your day sleeping when you could be out exploring.

Any future travel plans?

Big Sur and Alaska!

Favorite travel quote?

“We travel not to escape life. But for life not to escape us.”

What has travel taught you?

Travel has taught me to be patient and to continue to do what I love.
